Who are the instructors?
The instructors in the Amazon Academy are leaders of all kinds – Amazon executives, senior leadership and developers. These experts share their knowledge through innovative, accessible and hands-on learning opportunities. They span a wide range of topics from business intelligence to machine learning to development methodologies like TDD and unit testing.
The instructors in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Introduction to Data Analytics are PhD level faculty with broad industry experience in analytics methods as well as practical experience teaching data analytics courses at leading US universities. What will I learn?
The Amazon Academy (aka The Technical Academy) is a free educational program that provides in-depth training for technical engineering and computer science skills. This six week course takes you through fundamental material on managing large networks and cloud systems as well as applications like Hadoop and Cassandra. It’s also taught by experts from within Amazon so the advice is rooted in best practices from working at the world’s largest retailer. If you are interested in learning more about technical issues surrounding networking, data stores, computational techniques or even programming languages then this class will help get you started down the right path. And don’t worry if technical subjects aren’t your thing; one recent review said I was really reluctant to take this class at first because I’m not an engineer!
Who is eligible?
The Amazon Tech and Trade Academies are now available to anyone with a high school diploma or GED. Once they complete their coursework in this program, they will be able to apply for a technical role on our professional development fast track.

How do I apply?
In response to the growing number of in-demand IT jobs, Amazon is expanding its offerings with Technical Academy classes. Two online schools are now open for enrollment to a global audience – AWS Technical Essentials and DevOps Essentials – giving anyone interested in pursuing an IT career the opportunity to learn from Amazon’s best and brightest and take their career where it may lead.
When can I start?
The program is currently only open to Amazon employees. If you’re an employee at Amazon and you want to join the Technical Academies now, all you need to do is fill out a form on the Amazon Web site’s website. You don’t need any prior qualifications or experience in engineering and technical fields!
