Get Your Arizona Real Estate License in 8 Steps

If you’re looking to get into the real estate market, you’ll need to have a valid Arizona real estate license. Your license will allow you to find and purchase properties; list them on the MLS, broker deals between buyers and sellers, and more—all with the legal protections of the Arizona Real Estate Commission. While there are several different types of licenses to choose from, each with its own requirements, getting your first license in Arizona can be broken down into 8 simple steps. Let’s get started!

1) What makes you eligible

You must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and successfully complete an approved real estate education program. You must also pass two exams a state-specific exam and a national exam. Once you’ve met all these requirements, you’ll need to submit an application to the Arizona Department of Real Estate. Once your application is accepted, you will receive your Arizona real estate license after completing the remaining steps listed below.

2) Where do you get the application

The first step is to get your application from the Arizona Department of Real Estate. You can do this by visiting their website or by calling them. The application will ask for some basic information about you and your experience in real estate. Once you have filled out the application, you will need to submit it along with a $200 fee.

What’s next (eight sentences)

After you have submitted your application, you will need to take an examination. The examination is given by computer and consists of 100 multiple-choice questions. You will have two hours to complete the exam, and you must score at least 70% to pass.

3) How long does it take

The process of getting your Arizona real estate license can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months. Here are the steps you’ll need to take

  1. Get your fingerprints taken. You’ll need to get fingerprinted by an authorized provider. The provider will then submit your fingerprints to the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS).
  2. Complete an approved real estate pre-license course. You must complete an approved 60-hour real estate pre-license course before you can sit for the state exam.

  4. Submit a license application and supporting documents.

4) How much does it cost

The cost of getting your Arizona real estate license depends on a few factors. The first is the type of course you take. There are online courses, live classroom courses, and self-study courses. The second factor is whether you need to take the state exam. If you have a bachelor’s degree in real estate from an accredited university, you may be able to waive the state exam. Finally, there are miscellaneous costs like the cost of fingerprinting and the application fee. Overall, you can expect to spend between $300 and $1,000 to get your license.

5) Do you need pre-licensing education

In order to obtain your license, you’ll need to complete 90 hours of pre-licensing education. This can be done through an accredited real estate school, either online or in person. The coursework covers a variety of topics, including property law, contracts, and ethics. Once you’ve completed the education requirements, you’ll be able to sit for the state licensing exam. You’ll have up to two years from the time you’re licensed to pass it, so there’s no rush!

6) Is there a test

You bet there is! The Arizona Department of Real Estate (ADRE) requires all applicants to pass a written examination before being issued a license. The good news is, that you can take the exam online from the comfort of your own home.
